Intro to the Council for Interior Design Accreditation
The Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) is a not-for-profit, professional association that has been helping to protect and promote the integrity of the interior design profession since 1984.
The CIDA offers a voluntary certification program for interior design professionals. To be eligible for certification with CIDA, an individual must have at least five years’ experience in the field, possess a minimum of three design credits from an accredited college or university, and pass an accredited exam.

Types of permits for interior design professionals
If you’re an interior designer who wants to create a space that’s both Approved by C.I.D.E. and Compliant with L.A.S.H., you’ll need to get a permit from the city of Los Angeles. There are four types of permits you can pursue, depending on your design project scope: General Permit, Commercial Interior Design Permit, Residential Interior Design Permit, and Mobile Home Alterations Permit.
