-If your garage door is manually operated: Change the code by entering it into your keypad. You will also need to wind up or unchain the motor if it is mounted on the side of the door. For instructions, please consult your manual.

How To Unlock A Garage Door With A Keychain
If your Genie garage door keypad has stopped working, there are a few simple steps you can take to restore it to its original programming – even if you don’t have the original manual.Step One: Disconnect the power to the garage door and all associated lights.Step Two: Remove the cover on the keypad by pulling up on the front lip and then pull it off of the keypad.Step Three: Look for a small black screws that are holding down a small circuit board. Carefully remove these screws and set them aside.Step Four: Locate a small battery near the back of the keypad. Pry it out with a screwdriver, being careful not to damage the antenna inside.Step Five: Replace the battery with a new one, ensuring that it is positioned in exactly the same spot as the old one. Screw everything back together, reconnecting power to the garage door and lights as you go.The keychain method is great for people who don’t have an original manual or don’t want to mess with screws – but be warned that this method is less secure than using a regular Genie remote. How To Program A New Remote Sensor
There are a few things you need to do in order to program a new remote sensor on your Genie garage door:
-Remove the old remote sensor from the garage door and affix the new one in its place
-Move the ‘lift arm’ on the garage door so that it is vertical and close to the top of the track (this will activate the sensor)

Genie garage door remote will not work or only work intermittently. Q: How can I troubleshoot the Genie garage door remote?
A. First, ensure that the batteries in the Genie garage door remote are freshly installed and fully charged. Second, try pressing each button on the controller unit in turn to see if any of them responds. If none of the buttons on the controller unit response, then it may be necessary to reset the unit by pressing and holding down all six buttons for three seconds.
