One day your garage door opens and you’re forced to go into another room or put your hand in the space to close it because the remote’s battery died. Even if you have a dedicated garage with multiple doors and no other rooms nearby, there’s still likely one clear opening into the middle of your hallway! Some people might have an old key tucked away in their house somewhere, but what about when there’s no spare around?
The Problem: Our Liftmaster Garage Door Remote Is Not Working
I have a 2004 model Liftmaster garage door opener. I contacted the manufacturer and they said that the remote is not supported and that I need to purchase a new one. I thought that maybe my new remote might work because it looked similar to the old one, but it doesn’t. The light on the receiver is orange and it won’t open the garage door. What should I do?
Its Complicated
There are a few different things you can try if your Liftmaster garage door remote isn’t working. First, check to see if the battery is completely dead. If the battery is completely dead, you’ll need to replace it. Secondly, make sure that the infrared sensor on the transmitter is pointed in the right direction. Finally, make sure that the receiver is close enough to the transmitter.’
What’s the Solution?
If your garage door remote won’t work, there are several possible solutions. One is to check to see if the battery is charged, another is to try resetting the remote by pressing and holding the reset button for five seconds. If those don’t work, you can try replacing the battery in the remote or receiver.
1) Keep Up with Firmware Updates on Your Devices
If you’re having problems with your Liftmaster garage door remote not working, there is a good chance that you need to keep up with firmware updates on your devices.
Most garage door remotes use invisible infrared (IR) signals to interact with the opener. When there are changes made to the signal, the devices need to be updated in order for them to work properly.
If you aren’t receiving updates for your Liftmaster garage door remote or any of your other devices, it’s likely because you aren’t taking the time to update them. This can save you time and trouble down the road.
2) Change Your Geolocation to High Accuracy
If you are having trouble using your Liftmaster garage door remote because it is not working, you may need to change your geolocation to a more accurate location. By doing this, you may be able to resolve the issue and get your remote working again.
To change your geolocation, locate the “settings” button on your remote and press it. On the following screen, scroll down until you see the “geolocation” section. If you do not have this button, there may be a hidden one on the body of the remote. Once you have located the geolocation section, press the “geolocation” button to open it.
In this section, you will need to input your current location. You will also need to provide an address that is close to your current location. Once you have entered all of the information, press the “save” button. Your new geolocation should now be in high accuracy mode and should work better with your Liftmaster garage door remote.
3) Reset the Receiver
If your Liftmaster garage door remote not working, there are a few things you can do to try and fix the issue. The first is to reset the receiver on the remote. To do this, hold down the ‘START’ button for two seconds, then release it. Replace the battery in the transmitter if it’s low on power. If neither of these solutions work, you may need to replace your remote.
4) Reset the Belt Assembly if Needed
If your liftmaster garage door remote isn’t working, there are a few things you can do to try and fix the issue. First, make sure that the belt assembly is properly installed on the drive motor. Next, if the issue still persists, you may need to reset the garage door controller. These steps will help to solve any problems with your liftmaster garage door remote.
