Removing the New Cartridge
If you have recently replaced your Moen kitchen faucet cartridge, remove the old cartridge by gently pulling it out from the spout. Inspect the threads on both ends of the cartridge to make sure there are no visible damage. If there are any problems, strip a few turns of copper wire around the damaged area and use a soldering iron to melt the solder and reattach the wires. Be very gentle while heating the iron; applying too much heat can cause the wire to snap.
If there is no damage, carefully clean both ends of the cartridge with a dry cloth or eraser. Hold one end of the cartridge in one hand and use your other hand to turn it until it unscrews from the spout. Remove both parts and discard them.
To install the new cartridge, first line up the threaded end of the cartridge with the open end of the spout on your faucet. Use a screwdriver to screw on the cartridge until it’s firmly in place (you may need to slightly twist it while screwing). Turn on your faucet and verify that water is flowing through the new cartridge. If everything is working correctly, you can now replace your old showerhead by
